Alternative Cancer Treatments

Investigate alternative cancer treatments with this cutting edge information from alternative medicine. Check out cancer treatment options and discuss alternative cancer therapy with your doctor.

Most deaths from cancer are caused by the spread of the cancer, from the original tumor, throughout the body. So how do you keep it from spreading?

How Cancer Spreads
One way it spreads is through the growth of new blood vessels, called angiogenesis. If you can stop those new blood vessels from growing and supporting the cancer, the tumor begins to shrink. You may have heard about the use of shark cartilage for cancer; it is a substance that restrains the growth of those blood vessels. Unfortunately, the high demand for it has produced a lot of inferior products. One product, Benefin, however, is processed without heat or solvents that damage its effectiveness. See more information at www.cityhealth.com.au. That’s right; you have to get it from Australia.

Another way cancer spreads is through the formation of new tumors, as cancer cells travel throughout the body and meet up with each other to form new tumors. If you can keep the cancer cells from clumping into new tumors, then metastases is limited or prevented.

The professional researcher/reporter who writes this site has no medical training. Always check with your doctor before trying anything you read here. Everyone is different, and what might be good for some people might be bad for you, considering your medical history and medications.

An Alternative Cancer Therapy
A natural cancer treatment that does this good thing is a form of pectin. The most familiar form of pectin is the product you buy at the supermarket and use to make jelly at home. It’s a special kind of pectin, however, called modified citrus pectin, or MCP, that is used as a natural cancer therapy to prevent cancer cells from clumping into new tumors. It may even limit the growth of the original tumor. Among alternative cancer treatments, this looks promising.

Although medical scientists don’t know exactly how this natural cancer remedy, modified citrus pectin, does all this, a number of studies show that it does work. For example, three groups of rats with prostate cancer were studied. One group got 0.1 percent MCP in their drinking water. The second group got 1.0 percent MCP. The third group, the control group, got nothing.

Of the control group, after 30 days of this holistic cancer treatment, 15 of 16 rats had metastases in their lungs. Of the other two groups, about half had metastases, BUT, in the group with the higher dose of MCP, the rats averaged only one metastatic tumor versus nine metastatic tumors in the control group.

Natural Cancer Treatment Slows PSA Increase, Study Indicates
Another study using MCP as a natural cancer remedy, involved men with prostate cancer for whom conventional treatments had failed, so these men had ongoing cancer. The study measured increasing PSA numbers. PSA, or prostate specific antigen, is a test which, in this case, measures the rate of increase in the cancer. The study measured how long it took for PSA levels to double. In four of the seven men, the use of MCP as a natural cancer therapy saw PSA doubling time to increase over 30 percent, and all patients were still alive at the end of five years, despite the expectation that at least two would have died by then.

In a similar study using MCP as an alternative cancer treatment, PSA doubling time increased by more than 100 percent in half the patients, with increases up to 941 percent after a year of treatment.

Cancer Treatment Option For Breast And Colon Cancer
In a study on MCP for breast cancer, using rats, those on MCP had significantly less tumor growth, angiogenesis, and metastases.

Testing MCP for colon cancer in rats, tumor size decreased from 38 to 70 percent, depending on the dose.

Natural Cancer Remedy Tested On "Hopeless" Cases
Only recently has testing begun on humans, and then only on otherwise hopeless cases who have tried everything else. Alternative cancer treatments are not popular with the medical establishment, including the drug companies and the FDA. They frown on anything but conventional treatments, such as surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Doctors using alternative cancer treatments on early-stage cancer cases have been sued, disciplined, lost their licenses.

A study at Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg, Germany involved 49 patients from age 36 to 82, most of whom had lived with cancer for over three years. All had advanced tumors of the colon, prostate, breast, kidney, lung, cervix/uterus, liver, pharynx, pancreas, stomach, and more. Ninety percent had metastases.

Natural Cancer Therapy Improves Quality Of Life
Considering the advanced states of cancer involved, no one expected this alternative cancer treatment to produce a cure, and there was none. Twenty percent of patients, however, experienced an improvement in their quality of life. Twelve of 49 stabilized during the first eight weeks of treatment, 10 remained stabilized over 16 weeks, and six stabilized for more than 24 weeks while taking MCP, five grams, three times a day. One patient with advanced prostate cancer saw his PSA level cut in half, in addition to decreased pain and better quality of life.

No one knows yet what effect MCP would have on patients other than hopeless cases, but studies like this one provide justification for enlightened physicians to try MCP in the earlier stages of cancer.

My source, Dr. David Williams, has two recommendations:

1) Since biopsies can spread cancer, take MCP to prevent that, five grams three times a day for a total of 15 grams, a week before the biopsy and continuing for two to four weeks afterward.

2) Take the only product he recommends, the one that was used in the human study, which is called PectaSol-C. See more info about the product and about the study at www.econugenics.com.

He also believes it should be “an integral part of any therapeutic program to treat or even prevent cancer.”

MCP is nontoxic and safe, although there are no studies on MCP use by pregnant or lactating mothers.
